Meet Our Summer Intern: Lisbet Zelaya
We’re excited to welcome Lisbet Zelaya to the MogulMoxie team this summer.
Lisbet brings an interdisciplinary perspective and a deep curiosity about the intersection of communication, storytelling, technology, and human connection. She believes that the best content doesn’t just capture attention. It helps people feel seen, understood, and represented.
What stood out most during her interview wasn’t simply her creativity. It was her commitment to approaching people and problems with empathy, curiosity, and a willingness to see the bigger picture. She reminds us that meaningful communication is about more than beautiful design. It’s about building community and creating stories that matter.
Throughout the summer, Lisbet will be supporting our social media, content creation, and digital storytelling initiatives while gaining hands-on experience in strategic communications.
Welcome, Lisbet!
One of the things we appreciated most about our conversation with Lisbet was her belief that communication is about more than creating content that looks good. It’s about the purpose behind it. As you’ll discover in the interview below, she’s passionate about creating stories that connect with people, reflect authentic experiences, and make others feel seen, heard, and represented.
We hope you enjoy getting to know Lisbet as much as we have.
Let’s get into her interview.
What’s your favorite place in the world and what keeps drawing you back there?
My favorite place in the world is not a place but a person. I have known my best friend Christopher for years and he truly has been a peacemaker in my life. I constantly find myself stuck in my head about what I am doing, how things could go wrong, and how I could do better. Being with him has allowed me to enjoy moments for what they are regardless of the what if’s.
How has your interdisciplinary education shaped the way you see people, systems and the world around you?
My education has taught me not to look at anything from just one perspective. People are shaped
by their personal experiences, their communities, technology, culture, and the systems around
them.
It has also helped me become more aware of how complicated people’s choices can be. Instead
of assuming someone acts a certain way for one simple reason, I try to think about the bigger picture. That mindset helps me be more empathetic, more curious, and more thoughtful when I approach problems.
What inspired you to pursue this internship, and why this field specifically?
I was inspired to pursue this internship because I am interested in the way communication can shape how people see themselves and the world around them. I like the creative side of social media and storytelling, but I also care about the purpose behind it. This field interests me because it combines creativity, strategy, and most importantly impact. It is not just about making something look good. It is about creating content that connects with people and represents real stories that build community. That is the kind of work I want to be part of.
What kind of impact do you want to make, whether in tech, community work, communication, or another field?
I want to make an impact by helping people feel understood and represented. Regardless of the field I am in, I want to create things that feel meaningful while hitting as many people as possible. I also want my work to help bridge gaps between people and systems. Sometimes information and technology can feel distant or hard to understand, which I have studied in depth. I want to be part of work that makes those things feel more human and more connected to real people’s lives.
What does representation mean to you, and why does it matter?
Representation means seeing people’s real stories and identities reflected in a way that feels honest and respectful. It is not just about being visible. It is about being valued. Representation matters because people need to see that their voices and experiences belong in important spaces. When representation is done well, it can make people feel empowered and capable of imagining more for themselves.
How do you use your voice to create space for other women?
I use my voice by listening, supporting, and making sure other women feel heard. Sometimes creating space means speaking up, and sometimes it means stepping back so someone else can be seen. I think it is important to encourage other women and share opportunities for the greater good. I want my voice to be something that helps build confidence and community, not competition.
Thank You, Lisbet!
