Spotlight: Rashida Johnson

Meet Rashida Johnson

Some women build businesses. Some women preserve legacy. Rashida Johnson is doing both at the same time.

What drew us into this conversation immediately is the intentionality behind how she moves through the world. Nothing about her work feels accidental. Whether she is helping leaders and organizations grow through WisdomBuilds or honoring family memory through ShidaSweets, Rashida approaches leadership, entrepreneurship, and service with a rare combination of clarity, warmth, and purpose.

There is something especially powerful about the way she speaks about legacy. Not as a distant idea tied only to what we leave behind, but as a daily practice reflected in how we live, lead, create, and care for others right now. Her reflections on entrepreneurship, self-care, lifelong learning, and community offer a refreshing reminder that meaningful success is not only built through ambition, but through intention and connection.

Let’s step into her story.

Her favorite place in the world.

White sand beaches with clear blue water in the Caribbean. The beauty and tranquility keep drawing me back. It instantly recharges me.

The one thing she keeps coming back to that grounds her when everything feels uncertain.

I keep coming back to legacy. I am grounded by remembering the path that was laid before me and being intentional about the path I am creating for those who will come after me. That perspective shapes how I lead, how I serve, and how I build.

In my professional work through WisdomBuilds, legacy means helping leaders, teams, and organizations grow with clarity, purpose, and integrity so their impact extends far beyond the present moment.

In my entrepreneurial journey with ShidaSweets, legacy is deeply personal. ShidaSweets was born from my desire to honor my Great Aunt Isabel, whose baking represented warmth, care, and togetherness. Recreating and preserving that family tradition is about more than dessert. It is about carrying forward memory, love, and heritage in a tangible way.

Whether I am coaching leaders, guiding change, or baking a pound cake inspired by my family’s story, I try to move with intention. For me, legacy is not only what we leave behind. It is how we choose to live, serve, and build each day.

A movement that genuinely excites her right now.

What genuinely excites me right now is seeing more people embrace entrepreneurship as a meaningful and viable path.

Many who once believed their only option was traditional employment are now exploring how to build businesses, monetize their gifts, and create work that reflects their passions and values. As a multi-hyphenate entrepreneur, I find that shift both inspiring and energizing.

I love witnessing the innovation, the courage, and the sense of possibility that emerge when people give themselves permission to build something of their own. I also value the opportunity to connect with business owners as they share what matters most to them and bring their ideas to life with intention.

A strategy that has helped her grow in ways she didn’t expect.

One strategy that has helped me grow in ways I did not initially expect is committing to being a lifelong learner. I have found that healthy curiosity, paired with the courage to build something new, opens doors that fear or certainty can easily keep closed.

Learning, for me, is not just about collecting knowledge. It is about expanding how I think, refining how I lead, and remaining open to transformation. That mindset has shaped my work across leadership development, coaching, change management, and entrepreneurship, and it continues to help me evolve with intention.

The best investment she has made in yourself recently.

One of the best investments I have made in myself is self-care. I do not view self-care as indulgence; I view it as stewardship.

When I care for my well-being, I strengthen my ability to lead, serve, create, and sustain meaningful impact. Self-care helps protect my energy, sharpen my focus, and remind me that I do not have to be depleted in order to be effective.

For me, investing in myself in this way is essential because it supports not only who I am, but also how I show up for others.

A book that shifted her perspective in a meaningful way.

One book that shifted my perspective in a meaningful way is The Eight Superpowers of Flux. It challenged me to think more intentionally about how I define my professional brand and the kind of impact I want to have.

What stayed with me most was the reminder that growth is not simply about adapting to change, but about developing the self-awareness, resilience, and clarity to navigate change with purpose.

That perspective has influenced both my leadership journey and the way I continue to build and evolve as an entrepreneur.

A truth she wants all women to know.

One truth I would give away freely is this: we are better together. It may sound simple, but I believe it deeply. There is so much power in connection, in taking the time to meet someone new, hear another woman’s story, and share your own. Those conversations can spark new ideas, open unexpected doors, and remind us of what is possible.

Sometimes the very thing you need to hear is waiting in someone else’s journey, and sometimes your story may be the encouragement, clarity, or inspiration someone else needs. There is wisdom in community, and when women choose to connect, collaborate, and pour into one another, powerful things happen.

What stays with us after reading Rashida’s reflections is the depth of intention behind everything she creates. In a world that often celebrates speed, visibility, and constant hustle, she offers a different model. One rooted in purpose, stewardship, connection, and legacy. Her words remind us that entrepreneurship is not only about building something profitable. It can also be about preserving memory, honoring family, creating impact, and opening doors for others along the way.

We were especially moved by her belief that “we are better together.” That truth echoes throughout her story. In the way she leads. In the way she learns. In the way she builds community through both WisdomBuilds and ShidaSweets. Rashida’s journey is a reminder that some of the most meaningful work we do is not simply about what we achieve for ourselves, but about what we nurture, share, and leave behind for others.
